Web Graphic Designer

Department: User Experience Design (UXD)

Rare Medium Atlanta has an immediate opening for a full-time graphic designer with experience designing web sites and web applications for large companies (i.e. Fortune 1,000).

Requirements:
  • Ability to analyze and interpret user graphic requirements
  • Minimum 4 years experience in web design
  • Experience working with extended teams - information architects, HTML coders, and developers
  • Experience in user-centered design practices
  • Proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Intermediate flash experience (3+ years)
  • Coding experience (HTML, javascript, CSS) a plus

Design Technologist (Webmaster)

Department: User Experience Design (UXD)

Rare Medium Atlanta has an immediate opening for a full-time Design Technologist with well-rounded "front-end" web capabilitles. The Design Technologist role at Rare Medium encompasses all technologies that are considered public-facing (i.e. HTML, CSS, DHTML, JavaScript, etc.).

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Create or edit HTML/CSS templates to be used by technical staff to create dynamic websites
  • Design and generate front-end code to display consistently across a myriad of browser/platform combinations
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years experience in front-end development
  • Required core technologies - HTML, JavaScript, DHTML, CSS
  • Expert proviciency in Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) including experience building out "tableless" designs using CSS only
  • Experience working with extended teams - graphic designers, information architects, and developers
  • Proficient in Photoshop (graphic optimization, etc.)
  • Sufficient knowledge of Java Server Pages (JSP) and other server-side scripting languages
  • Microsoft .Net front-end design and implementation is a plus

Information Architect

Department: User Experience Design (UXD)

Rare Medium Atlanta has an immediate opening for a full-time Information Architect to help create innovative, usable solutions for our clients. Information Architects work with our clients to understand their business models and goals and to define strategies and approaches for reaching them. They interact with the user research, design, and technical teams to create dynamic Web-based applications that will communicate effectively and usably with their intended audiences.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Works with clients to understand their business models and goals and helps define strategy, content, and features for design of their Web site and other Internet based applications.
  • Assist or lead with the design and execution of heuristic evaluations, competitive analyses, stakeholder interviews and focus groups
  • Collaborates with project teams to: define site architecture and navigation, create user flows and experience, and define high-level interaction. Develops site maps, use cases, process flows, wire frames and content audits
  • Conducts ongoing usability testing and assessment
  • Defines metrics for assessing ROI
  • Acts as user advocate
Requirements:
  • Required: Minimum 3 years directly related information design and strategy experience
  • Strong knowledge of site design and usability principles, issues and techniques
  • Previous experience designing web site and web-based application including portals, e-commerce applications, intranets and extranets
  • Familiarity with content management systems and their general principals
  • Ability to analyze customer needs and define strategies for meeting them

Java Developer

Department: Technical Development

Rare Medium Atlanta has an immediate opening for a full-time Java Developer.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, document and test a web based application using Java and Apache Struts
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of web application development experience using Java with a good understanding and some programming experience in JSP, HTML, Javascript and DHTML
  • Install and configure web application server on workstation for development and testing
  • Read and understand both requirements (use cases) and architecture documents (UML)
  • Develop detailed designs consistent with object-oriented principles
  • Document detailed design objects using JavaDoc standards
  • Implement application design using Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application framework
  • Present work in peer review sessions and resolve all identified issues
  • Develop and maintain ANT build scripts for software deployment
  • Work with web developers to integrate Java functions with Java Server Pages (JSPs) using STRUTS, Tiles and custom tag libraries
  • Accurately estimate work effort and complete assignments on schedule
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible related technical experience, including 1 year developing large, technically complex systems and 6 months with major responsibility for developing, revising and controlling technical documentation of a complex system.
Special Requirements:
  • (MINIMUM) 3+ years of Java experience

Rare Medium Atlanta has an immediate opening for a full-time .Net Developer with 3+ years C#, ASP.Net, SQL-Server development experience.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, document and test a web services using C#/ASP.Net/Visual Studio
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of web application development experience using ASP.Net with a good understanding and some programming experience in Microsoft Content Management Server, HTML, CSS, Javascript and DHTML
  • Install and configure web application locally on workstation for development and testing
  • Read and understand both requirements (use cases) and architecture documents (UML)

Project Manager

Department: Account Service

Rare Medium Atlanta has an immediate opening for a full-time Project Manager who will be the key day-to-day contact for clients with ongoing web, programming, and application development projects. The Project Manager will work directly with the internal production departments to communicate and facilitate client requests. The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Work with Sales/Strategic Consultants to develop web site, intranet, extranet, and application solutions for client base
  • Gather project requirements from a broad range of internal and external contacts
  • Lead teamwork on projects from initiation, to customer acceptance, to completion
  • Interpret and document complex business requirements and processes
  • Manage full implementation of custom projects for clients
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders in a timely fashion
  • Provide creative input to design team based on client input and review deliverables prior to delivering to client
  • Display a positive attitude and make optimal use of staff and other resources through motivating team

Senior User Experience Designer

Department: User Experience Design (UXR)

Rare Medium Atlanta is seeking a Senior User Experience Designer who will be responsible for creating great experiences for clients and web-based products, systems and services. You will work collaboratively with fellow members of the Rare team comprised of information architects and technologists to conceptualize, design and prototype ideas; then collaborate with members of the Technology team to develop web-based sites or applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent the "User Experience" organization, translating customer requirements into defined specifications, creating well-branded, compelling, and user-friendly interface designs.
  • Own the design of the most impactful user interface - related features and participate in the design definition process.
  • Significantly influence User Experience strategy and direction both internally and to prospective clients.
  • Work with the Rare Medium team and the business stakeholders of our clients to translate business and marketing goals into the best web-based software solutions for our clients.
  • Design and develop design mockups, prototypes, style guides, and other design documents.
  • Work with Technology Development team to make sure that the workflow reflects the customer's needs and ensure consistency among features.
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of competitive and complementary systems/products and bring new ideas to the team.

Requirements:
  • High degree of creativity, interaction design and problem solving ability.
  • Strong determination to design the best user experience in the world.
  • Strong software design communication skills. (Ability to communicate one's ideas through their design.)
